Dr. Martin Thomas:
Dr. Thomas, the creator of Robot Psychic, was a brilliant scientist working to record images of the human soul. Unfortunately, Dr. Thomas was sucked halfway into a dimensional vortex (which he had created in his lab) and was cut in two when the vortex closed. The spectral remains of his upper torso now act as a spirit guide for Robot Psychic. His lower half still resides on the other side of that vortex. The Doctor finds this rather unsettling.
